Lobster Delivery

How do I know if my lobsters arrived in good condition?

The most important factor is whether the lobsters are alive when you receive them.  Do not cook or eat lobsters which have died during shipping; call the lobster delivery company immediately for a replacement or credit.

Of course, while the lobsters should be alive, they won't necessarily be lively.  Lobsters sent by overnight delivery will have been out of water for almost 24 hours when you receive them, and so they may appear weak or listless.  This is  normal, and as long as the lobsters are alive,  cold, and the packing material is in good condition, your lobsters should be fine.  You will know when you cook the lobster; if the lobster tail curls when cooked, and the meat in the tail is firm and in one piece, the lobster was alive when it was cooked.

Naturally, it is important to choose a company with a good reputation and fair policies about replacement or credit for lobsters which do not arrive in god condition.   If ordering lobsters online, be sure to check the company's refund policies carefully; reputable companies are happy to stand behind their shipments.
